Welcome to Department of Chemistry
The department of chemistry is one of the leading departments in this college and was established in the year 1964. B.Sc. programme in Chemistry was started in the year 1978. Since its inception, the department has been imparting quality education, with support of highly qualified and experienced faculties. There are five faculty members and three technical staff. In addition to the core course, the department offers complementary course to B.Sc. Physics, Botany and Zoology and open course to UG students of all other departments. In the last five years the faculties have contributed towards the publication of over 15 research papers. Faculties have completed 2 minor research projects sponsored by various government organizations. Our department faculty is a popular speaker, writer and debater. Also, our faculty members are executing significant governance roles like chairman of the board of studies, NSS program officer and coordinator of palliative care unit.
The department adopts student friendly teaching methods like seminars, discussions, project work and lectures. There are several student enrichment programs like Scholar Support Program (SSP), Walk With Scholar (WWS) and JAM coaching. We encourage peer group learning. A lot of charity work is initiated by the department to assist the needy students. The department in known for its rain water harvesting system and semi micro scale approach used in the laboratory.
